If it were mine, I'd probably just get a Tusq pre-slotted nut and glue it into place. A 43mm, flat bottom nut should work just fine, all you need to do is sand it down to the proper height. I believe it is part # pq-5043-00. A little white glue should do the trick, and should be easy enough to remove if you decide to go back to the floyd at.

TOMs are higher up off the body and have neck angles that are tilted back more (like a Les Paul, any Jackson with a TOM bridge, or guitars with non-recessed Floyds).

A Floyd is more versatile. I can deck or block a Floyd and it functions the same as a hardtail. floyd rose easily. it can do both while hardtail can only do hardtail thing. Good question. I have a Floyd Rose equiped guitar and I installed a Tremol-no which allows me to change between hard tail, dive only or floating.
